Pressure testing for process systems and installations

Multinal Group provides a variety of pressure tests for process installations and/or systems, which could roughly be divided into:

  • Leak testing;
  • Strength integrity testing.

These types of tests are often performed by us as a final test for new or existing process systems or process installations.

For leak testing we mostly use compressed air (low pressure), a (combination of) inert gas(ses), liquids such as water (if necessary with a corrosion inhibitor), oil or water-glycol as a medium. These tests can be performed on separate piping as well as complete systems.

The helium-leak test is a specialist method of leak testing. With this test as a final test in a gas line system, for example, it is possible to quantify the leakage percentage of every individual connection. After that, it will be easy to check the results to acceptance and rejection criteria, and thus prevent unnecessary repairs.

From a safety standpoint, liquids, water (if necessary with a corrosion inhibitor), oil or water-glycol are usually used as a medium for strength integrity testing. These tests are usually performed on separate piping as well as (semi) complete systems. During strength integrity testing, the test object is subjected to a pressure test which exceeds the design pressure. The strength integrity test, established beforehand within a testing package in conformity with the regulations, demonstrates whether the product in question satisfies the strength requirements of the design standard and whether it is safe to use.

Regardless of which type of pressure test is used, we will perform it for you with expertise. We have adjusted our pressure tests, depending on the type of trade and/or whether there is an explosion hazard concern, for the offshore, pharmacy, petrochemical, and shipping industries.
